‘Shaming’ her in-laws costs 19 year old her nose, ears
“It felt like there was cold water in my nose, I opened my eyes and I couldn’t even see because of all the blood,” she remembers. It was an act of Taliban justice for the crime of shaming her husband’s family.
Say it again with me: “Religion of Peace.”
fishbowl-soul: this is a terribly cruel act. however, just because some people of a certain religion are not ‘peaceful’ doesn’t mean they are ALL like that. I am friends with a lot of people who are Islamic and they are some of the most respectful, gentle and generous people I know.(via thesilentdove)
Also this isn’t an Islamic crime: it is a crime of traditionalism, and the culture of the Taliban, which is extremist and NOT a good example of Islamic culture.
Sorry. I understand how easy it is to equate ‘Taliban’ with ‘Normal, everyday Islam’.
This type of inbred, cultural mysogeny has GOT TO STOP!!
There is NEVER justification for this type of abuse of women by men.
Can you tell I’m ANGRY?!
Two wrongs don’t make a right but give me a sharp knife & the men who did this & I’d be SORELY tempted!
Symbols of what I have hope for: the ‘h’ is for the environment, ‘o’ for equality, ‘p’ for peace, ‘e’ for enlightenment, and the five leaves on the vine for family (I have five people in my immediate family).
Another cool tattoo
This is my best friend’s first tattoo just after it was finished. She is studying environmental science, and has been playing music since she was a little girl (hence the treble and bass clefs in the top of the tree).
This is very cool!
my tree tattoo. my best friend/backpacking partner designed it for me & a talented guy named taki from rogue’s gallery in menomonie, wisconsin did the tattooing.
Very cool!
